PORTÁŠ PEOPLE

The “portáš people” wore white fleecy trousers, red vests, long green jackets across their shoulder, fur caps or simple hats and high boots.

The “portáš people” were armed with short carbines, sabres and blackjacks (axes on long poles). They also had a rope tied around their waist, used for tying up offenders refusing to give up and walk freely in front.
